I'm trying to get hold of my domestic fuel oil delivery man this afternoon. I would like to get my 2000 litre tank full before I go on holiday. For one thing, the price always goes up in the autumn, regardless of geopolitics, and for another, the currently rising crude price will filter through soon...

I'm also building up stocks of firewood, to reduce oil consumption. For reasons of capital costs, I don't want to go cold turkey on the fuel oil yet. Though that could change pretty quickly... the pain threshold already got passed last winter.

Solar assisted space heating (with solar water heating included) should be economic in any area using oil heat.

Orientation issues, trees, etc. may hinder this; but worth considering.
