Since there are no comments yet, I'll post a question I've been wondering about for a while.
David Hughes, the Canadian Geological Survey staffer who goes around making incredibly inflammatory statements about the sorry state of Canada's oil and gas reserves as well as the tar sands boondoggle, is a minor hero of mine. I just wonder how he gets away with it. I'm aware that he's been with the survey for a long time and maybe doesn't care if he's fired at this point, but his statements must infuriate the neocons like our hapless natural resources minister who is all in favour of nukes for tar sands plants.
So, anybody know how he gets away with it?
I think he's simply too senior to supress. I spoke to him when I was setting up TOD:C, hoping that he would be a contributor here, but he's a very busy man. He did say he'd think about it after retirement, but I suspect he'll still be a busy man.
