Giant pylons will spring up like weeds in many places as electricity demand soars due to transition from oil and gas, population growth, economic growth, increased use of air conditioners due to warming climate etc.

We are probably doomed anyway and nimbyism is one of the reasons why.

Pylons are going to be an issue that doesn't go away unfortunately - especially with people like me promoting lots of renewable projects scattered all over the place.

Its one reason why people should never discount PV / thin film solar, even if it is more expensive than some alternatives - it generates locally and doesn't impact on the landscape, and thats always a big plus.
