sorry if this is the wrong thread,
is there somewhere I can find total amount of energy used by the usa in Iraq on the war, and how much oil will be forthcoming?
In a recent workshop I went to on peak oil one of the speakers said that USA had got passed the point of making a profit?
I can understand that wars use a lot of energy, but how much?
apologies again if this is the wrong place, seems to be a lot of "off message" posts on the other threads and I dont want to add to it.
If someone is claiming that USA had got passed the point of making a profit, then that person has information that no contributor to this site has been able to uncover (unless, of course, I missed that post - which would be unusual considering the number of times that question has been asked).
If any others (especially HO, PG, ianqui or Stuart) know where the answer is here, please cue us all in.
But, then again, the "making a profit" bit might be true - if we used less than (quick guess) 500K bbl a day in Iraq military operations, then, strictly speaking, there is a surplus of oil out of the ground over that used. However, I would question the logic of there being a "profit" in the sense of more oil available (net) than before OIF started.
