Meanwhile, we are holding hearings before the sub committee's sub committee to determine if there is even a problem.

Our leaders are mostly clueless.

The Oil CEO's are being dragged in front of these same ignorant baboons to defend there profits against the government takers.

This is a pathetic joke, if you ask me.

Are we suffering from a leadership vaccuum?

Yep!
Our misleadership is well aware of what is going on.  They too have taken bold steps to ensure future access to the remaining oil.  Did you think we were trying to spread democracy or something?  I wish I could remember where I saw the map showing where the oil is and where various countries were positioning their military forces.  I'm sure the correlation was only coincidental.

The problem is that our gubmint's only solution appears to be a military one, which not only won't work, it will be counterproductive.  We use by far the greatest share of the oil now, and if I were China or India I would be considering how to get some of the oil that we are getting now.  The supply is not growing anymore, and there's no way to "make the pie higher".  If we compound the net decline rate and a decreasing share of the future supply, you end up with a recipe for conflict.
