The poll...also indicates that roughly three out of four Americans---77 percent---fear the supply of oil will not be able to keep up with global demand. Three in 10 said they believe the world will run short of oil within the next 25 years.

That perception is in conflict with forecasts from the Energy Information Agency, the official arm of the U.S. government that keeps energy statistics. The agency estimates that the oil supply will be able to meet the demand, which is expected to skyrocket by 40 percent in the next 20 years---driven by rising U.S. consumption and booming economies in China and India.

yeah, but what they forget to mention is that the EIA arbitrarily doctors future supply figures to match projected demand, with no basis in reality whatsoever. so this is willful deceipt, not just delusion, on the part of the US govt and the OECD's little brother, the IEA. it just seems too convenient that such bullshit is right in line with what EXXON, BP and Shell also choose to spout publicly.

apparently, 12% of the american public believe the country is already in an energy crisis. so possibly a quarter of that, or 3%, really understand PO. sounds about right to me.

This is an important poll and points out an important lack of faith in the official government line...So 3/4 of people agree with the basic assumption of peak oil (Supply will not be able to meet rising demand) and does not believe the official government line...we certainly have some fertile ground here...we need to plant more seeds. Let's start helping our friends connect the dots.
