Unfortunately the two previous Liberal administrations did so little that they created the situation where the present government can focus upon that lack of action and divert our attention from the issues. And it lets them downgade the issue to the point that they can appoint an environment minister with the credentials of a CNN anchor bimbo. (Smile at camera A, smile at camera B, read what we give you.)
The Kyoto targets are so low and only a baby step that it is sad we are even debating taking that step.
The Harper gov't is vulnerable on the environment and the Liberals can gain some points there but we were bought with our own money in the last election and I think the "average voter" is always open to that. Dion is talking about handing out money for appliances etc so maybe that will work. I think the next election will be a bidding war for the votes. Maybe that is a good rehersal for the future bidding war for energy.
By the way, has anyone heard anything about Ed Schryer heading an effort to found ASPO Canada? Colin Campbell suggested that a few months ago but I have unable to find anything. I sent an e-mail to the address Campbell published but so far no response.
I think the only political hope to get somethign going on peak oil is to build something with people from all political parties. No one party is gong to "out" it on their own and take all of the political risk.
Did I read here that Dion was briefed on PO? Was it you who did that Stoneleigh?
